04/27/02 - Blackstone's pages move to www.blackstonetavern.com
What's all this about? Blackstone is a '.com' now? Yes, frankly, I got tired of the advertising and pop-up ads. While it wasn't all that expensive or troublesome to obtain a domain and hosting, it does perhaps demonstrate our belief that Blackstone Continuity will be around a while, and hopefully this move will allow us to expand what we can offer from these pages. Only time will tell.

04/07/02 - Lots of changes...A Continuity?
In short, nothing's really changed. We've merely modified the way some things are done, to serve our patrons better. On Imaginarium, the dream is now called 'Blackstone Continuity'. It's a small, slightly patched, fast loading dream which will contain any and all 'sub dreams' or 'IC locations' within the Continuity, and probably a number of our staff's personal dreams as well. The problem we were facing was this: Either load a number of related dreams on Imaginarium, which doesn't ICly link them together well, or load them as subdreams inside the Blackstone Tavern dream. Take Malgrave as an example. In order for someone to get to Malgrave, when it was loaded in the Blackstone Tavern dream, they faced two large downloads. The Blackstone one, simply to get to the portal for Malgrave, then another to actually get where they wished to go! With Fion Meadhrach Winery in the Continuity, and other 'IC Locations' coming as needed ICly, neither solution was a desirable way to manage our growth. Using a 'Meta' level dream where all others can be loaded makes the solution ICly workable and elegant from an organizational standpoint. So what in heck is the Continuity dream a map of? It's a representation of the 'region' surrounding Blackstone, as depicted by Talzhemir. While not a perfect rendering, it does give a rough approximation of the relationship of IC locations to one another, and a general idea of distance. Each floor tile is roughly one-half day's ride on this scale, and the 'number of buildings' for a given city reflect an idea of it's size, from one to four. This 'Continuity' level map has another, probably more subtle impact, one hopes, on our RolePlay here: Now that folks will be constantly exposed to the information there, it will gradually be absorbed, and when 'Bolario Senozo' states that he hails from Ollix, our patrons are more likely to know how far he's come and from what direction, ICly. It's always good to know what's in your neighborhood. Thank you for reading this over. Blackstone would not live and breathe as it does without the wonderful patrons that inhabit it, and Diremoon and I owe our deep thanks to all of those who have elected to pitch in and lend a paw to running the old place, both ICly behind the bar and OOCly behind the scenes, including all the talented artists of Furcadia whose work we've used. A special thanks goes to our beloved 'Gus the Barbot' and his player, who have kept the tavern loaded and open for business on many a dark watch. The Immortal Bard once wrote: 'O brave new world, that has such furres in it!' To me, today, it sounds quite fitting. Our friends and family many, our burdens taken up by well wishing paws, and always a kind hail on passing lips. Such furres indeed. - Direclaw
