Harfang’s Fall

Harfang fell after two days of savage fighting on October 9, 1159th year of the Dragon. Drakoria now has a foothold off Kasuria's western coast. The Harfang attack began with the sinking of two Royal Navy pickets just before dawn, perhaps by fire bombardment from Drakorian skyships hidden in mysterious fog, leaving it's waters undefended. Dragons ridden by Wyrrmes attacked the island's defenses soon after, along with Drakorian seaships outfitted with guns, and longboats of Wyrrmes coming ashore in great numbers. The defenders fought valiantly, but cut off from Kasuria, Harfang eventually fell. Zaydore, Harfang’s capitol held out the longest. It's fortifications were a bulwark against wave after wave of attacks, it's stone hewn walls impervious to flame and Drakorian assaults, even from the air, where brave Raptor Knights fought Wyrrme Dragonriders and skyships for ownership of the very clouds. At last, however, the mighty walls were breached by a magical attack of great power, splitting them asunder, and Zaydore was overrun. The Wyrrmes celebrated their conquest savagely, dining on captured scarhawks and their riders, or consuming dragon flesh from fallen mounts. Fires burned brightly as towns and villages were set to the torch, winged ranking Drakorian Commanders flying above the carnage. It is also said that the 'honors' for defenders who fought bravely was to have their heads displayed on poles with ceremony. It seems the King's forces have'nt been idle in the wake of Harfang's loss. Heavy wagons have been on the move for a week, traversing the deep mire of the roads with supplies and accompanied by large numbers of troops, while flights of scarhawks can be seen heading vaguely southwest from the direction of Hawkmount, perhaps to Port Lethora. Even skyships of the King's Royal Navy have been seen occasionally.

Aftermath of the Invasion, written by K.R.M. Morias

It is difficult time in the autumn of 1159. As a result of Harfang's fall, it would seem that Drakorian forces have finally gained a foothold in the island off the southwestern coast of Kasuria. Such is war. However, in a battle of two opposing forces, innocents - femmes, kits, and the elderly - are also involved. They run from their homes terrified, without anything left in their name but their lives. And some will lose that also. Port Lethora, just a day's sail from Zaydore and a line of trade with Harfang, is where many of these furres once lived. The residents have fled for safety, heading to the Kasurian inlands. Some seek their families. Others simply search for a quiet place to rebuild. There are no thoughts of joining lost families and friends in the afterlife; there had been enough death for all of them. This once-bustling port is now a shelter for survivors and escapees. Refugees occupy the whole city, filling the rooms of taverns and inns, storehouses, homes, even the jails. Militia, Guardsmen, even Raptor Knights are forced to tend to the injured as well as protect the port and its surrounding shorelines. The city is shrouded in a blanket of sadness; everyfurre there has lost someone or something in the invasion. Rodents, felines, and canines all shuffle out of Port Lethora, making room for the others and fleeing from the battle. The most noticeable among the weary pilgrims are the few Drakorians—soldiers tired of battle and death themselves, all of them traveling in the company of furre families. When asked, a Drakorian soldier merely respond that he, too, was a victim of war, fighting a battle he never wanted. When the question turned to a femme he was accompanying, she merely glared, and asked why they should be considered any different from we furres. Are they Drakorian sympathizers, as the more closed-mind furres of the kingdom choose to think? Or are they merely like beings of the same coin?

The Harvesting Festival at Fion Meadrhach Winery, which took place on October 22nd, 23rd, and 24th was a huge success! The Winery will have plenty of wine for years to come with all the grapes that were squished by those who attended. A number of furres ended up purple as a result of getting a little too excited while smashing grapes. All in all, the Festival provided fun for furres of all ages and will hopefully become an annual tradition.

Dark'eve'ntide, the night when the power of the Dark Primes is believed to be at it's fullest and spirits of the dead are said to roam the land, occurred as usual on October 31st. The Vinca was seen repainted above many doors, it's faded colors reborn as a warding against evil that might trespass. Bon'fyres also burned on hilltops and village greens to repel darkness and evil, while folk gathered to feast and dance the masque' until dawn. This practice stemmed from the belief that beauty, laughter and fellowship could weaken evil's grip that night. At Blackstone Tavern the flames burned high, and food and drink flowed freely with most furres celebrating behind masks.

A white feral wolf or dragon with black markings has been recently spotted in the surrounding woodlands of Fion Meadhrach Winery and Blackstone Tavern and Inn. She is a frightened creature, likely bearing a strange amulet on her neck. She is possibly wounded, and should be considered dangerous if angered. She may respond to the name 'Serrii'. If news of this creature is available, please contact Morias or leave a message at the bar. (Contributed by K.R.M. Morias)

Wanted: A black and white wolf vampfurre with blue spiked hair, rumored to be named "Kain". He has been seen around the Blackstone Tavern area and is usually dressed in black. Direclaw was arrested Sunday, November 3rd by Severon for allegedly shooting Elro in the paw with a crossbolt for defacing the tavern. After talking the incident over with Direclaw, Jherrith released Claw the following evening. (Contributed by Jherrith)

A minotaur has been sited in the region of Blackstone. Although it is often said that this race brings deep trouble, this creature appears to simply be foraging about. He claims to be a bounty hunter and killer of the Drakorians. Either way, protect your children!
