Pirates Attack, written by Direclaw

It has been reported that over the past few months, a number of merchant ships have been accosted by sky pirates in the waters off the western coast. Their vessels are reportedly of Kasurian design and appear to be flying a black flag emblazoned with a nine pointed star. These pirates force the merchants to heave to in order to be boarded at cannon-point. Their cargos are looted and before the rogues depart, they cut the ship’s rigging to ensure that pursuit is not possible. Merchants that have resisted by force of gonnes and cannons have fared badly against the pirates, with loss of life added to the loss of cargo. However, in one case, a canid was captured and left for dead by his crew on the deck of a pillaged merchant. Upon questioning with proper persuasion, some information has come to light. The pirates call themselves 'Senatus' or 'Senate' and all have the nine pointed star branded upon their persons, a mark of lifetime allegiance to their sky-captains and this faction. The King's Navy asks anyfurre oting the mark or hearing of these pirates to contact the local garrison.

Wading in Frozen Blood, written by K.R.M. Morias

It is most likely the bloodiest organized strike of this decade ever authorized by King Constantine the XII, and for some, one of the most tactically unsound. The 6th Calvary Regiment, the Knights of Heaven's Blaze, have made a pre-emptive strike against Harfang's borders in a bid to establish a new foothold on the taken-over island. Although successful, costs were high, both in the form of gold, tactics, and good furres-in-arms.
Zaydore, formerly believed to be Drakorian-controlled, has apparently been retaken by a small detachment of Kasurian forces and furre rebels, along with a number of Drakorian defectors. Recently reinforced by the remaining troops of the 14th Wing Archers and various infantry, forces are in the process of maintaining guerilla strikes and defending the city until our forces are able to move on once again.
Generals among his Royal Highness Constantine the XII, however, were skeptical of the unorthodox maneuver, and aghast at the death toll suffered from the surprise attack. Named among the newly fallen is Lieutenant Raifose Ti'Haala, commander of the Harfang rebel troops. Although it is a blow to the morale of Kasurian soldiers still fighting for the island, determination to drive the hostile Drakorian threat off our land still drives them forward.

Mystical Research Established, written by F.K. Hinitmaei-De'Kirian

As observed by an ever-increasing number of sages and scholars of the mystical arts, the usage of magic within Kasuria, including elemental-types and Prime-granted, is increasing exponentially in number. Seeing a beginning trend for magic as well as a need to understand it, experts and researchers from Theriopolis on the study of history, religion, and herbalism are in the process of preparing a research group to set sail for Kasuria despite the beginnings of the Kasurian-Drakorian war in the southwest.

A small number of furres from the Olde World have already set sail for Kasuria. Sages and scholars in Sheel are already beginning the process of preparing for their arrival; such an event will most certainly be of interest to all furres in the field of academics. Information garnered from shared studies will most prominently have an effect on metaphysics, where theories of technological integration with mysticism may begin.

On January 6th, Faeraina was arrested on charges of breaking and entering and assaulting a garrison officer. Siamore was also arrested for assaulting a garrison officer and was later fined three suns. On January 8th, Saphyre was arrested on charges of breaking and entering, threatening a garrison officer, and resisting arrest. Faeraina was released on January 7th after she was found to be pregnant. Saphyre was liberated on January 12th with a fine of seven suns. All three furres were charged by Lt. Colonel Jherrith Ti’Moon and arrested by Lt. Grisan Ti’Basamud.

Sunday, January 19th, two panther males by the names of Haerin and Ezekial Laslo were arrested by Jherrith, Krizara, and Grisan in Fion. The charge for their arrests was the kitnapping of Faeraina, and they were then relocated to Creel the next morning for their trial. Saphyre, Siamore, and Moclym were witnesses to the arrests.

Upon the evening of January 15th, the fairly well known ranger, Oakj, disappeared, said to have just slowly vanished into thin air. He had reportedly spoken with "Qualmi Mandu" and "Minot" just before his disappearance. Cause for the furre’s disappearance may only be known to these two, or not known at all. However, on the night of January 16th, one "Qualmi Mandu" was murdered. Her body was found early the next morning beneath the bridge, with a silver cross bolt through her throat. It was found by one "Areil Blackwell" A few witnesses reported seeing one "Aaron Malkrove" speaking with the now deceased earlier in the eve, and observed them walking together to the bridge. That was the last seen of Qualmi. (Contributed by Areil Blackwell)

Is there anything not more sacred to the heart than love? Affairs of the heart have not always been easy for me, but I think I have finally found stability and comfort in the one I hold most dear. Cailin, darling...I cannot even begin to describe in words the love I have for you. I have offered you my paw and soul to be bonded together with you in holy matrimony, and await that coming day gladly. Strangers and friends alike, please come to Fion Meadhrach Winery on February 1st for our marriage ceremony: the marriage and formal bonding of Sir Kail Morias and Cailin Oliver-Gwendell. Primes bless you all, and bless us in turn. (Contributed by Morias)

There is a thin blue line that separates a regular furre from a king's furre-like the blue thread and cloth that makes the uniform I wear. I did not notice the difference until recently. When I joined I thought to myself “here is my chance to give back to the land that gave me my freedom” and I was so excited when Lt. Colonel Jerrith announced my commission those few months ago. Little did I realize, the reality of the work. Not that I hate it, by all means I love what I do, though I’ve found that many furres have little taste for the “blue coats”-a nickname we seem to share. I'm a foreigner myself, and maybe I don't understand, though I can feel it behind the eyes and deep in the hearts of those I serve with, that despite training themselves to be the models of superior authority and efficient justice, there is a subtle whimper. It’s not easy to do what we do-to detach ourselves from all emotions and try to be higher than the common furre. I often feel an emptiness within myself when someone speaks ill of one of my fellow soldiers. The thing that most affected me occurred a few months back, shortly after I joined the garrison. Sergeant Ma'Kar, a male I looked up to as a role model, the perfect soldier, was horribly killed. He was resurrected, but after it all happened, I could feel a sort of sadness, or deep pain coming from him. It was as if the memory of having the life sucked from him haunted him to the core. It’s the same for all furres when we push away their feelings; it becomes like a bucket of rain water-more and more it fills up until it finally spills over. I suppose it’s considered weak to feel to much and un-soldier like to cry, but I know that we all need to feel sometimes, and I'll be the first to cry. So I'd like to try and cut that thread that separates us, its not really there. The only difference is a job, to serve king and country, to die protecting freedom, and to keep its people safe and free. I'll do the job any day, I'll lay my own life down for it, not because I'm obligated to, but because I want to. (Contributed by Private Justin DeClare)
